James Stephens Obituary

Conway James Stephens, age 93, passed away Thursday, May 22, 2025. Mr. Stephens was born September 15, 1931 in Florence County, SC. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing and spending time on his farm. He also enjoyed eating fish with his brother-in-law Randall. Mr. Stephens especially loved his wife and spending time with his grandsons, Matthew and Luke, as well as his special dog, Allie. He retired from Dilmar Oil Company after many years of service. He was predeceased by his mother, Iva Stephens Jordan. Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Jeanette Stephens of Conway; one son, Jody Peavy (Jill) of Aynor; four grandsons, Matthew Peavy of Longs, Luke Peavy (Hallie) of Loris, Joseph Peavy, and Jasper Peavy both of Aynor; and one great grandson, Graham James Peavy of Loris. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM Sunday, May 25, 2025 at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Monday, May 26, 2025 at Toddville Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Howard, Dr. Billy Carroll, and Rev. Jimmy Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in the Pauley Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery.
