James Patrick Obituary

James Edward "Jay" Patrick Jr., 67, a devoted family man, accomplished hotelier, and beloved member of the Myrtle Beach community, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on March 6, 1958, in Augusta, Georgia, Jay was the son of the late Zack and Betty Patrick. From an early age, he had a passion for taking things apart just to put them back together-a curiosity and capability that would define much of his life. Jay was married to his loving wife, Teresa Patrick, for 20 wonderful years. He was a proud father to his daughter Emily Reavill (husband Chris Reavill) and a deeply cherished "Pop" to his three grandchildren: Harrison, Wells, and Brooks Reavill. He is also survived by his brother, Van Patrick. Jay dedicated 37 years to the tourism and hospitality industry as the general manager of the Boardwalk Beach Resort in Myrtle Beach. Known for his leadership and warmth, he helped shape the hospitality landscape of the Grand Strand.A long-standing resident of Myrtle Beach, Jay was deeply committed to community service. He served in leadership roles across numerous organizations, including: * Board of Directors, Cherokee County Boys Club * Gaffney Rotary Club *South Carolina State Constable * Board of Directors, Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce * Myrtle Beach Area Hospitality Association * Myrtle Beach Rotary Club * Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce * Myrtle Beach Accommodations Tax Advisory Committee * Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday Outside of his professional and civic life, Jay had many passions. He earned his pilot's license and loved flying Cessna airplanes. He was an avid boater who found peace on the Intracoastal Waterway, and he enjoyed golfing, hunting, and fixing just about anything that crossed his path. He will be remembered for his capability, strength, humor, and unwavering devotion to his family. Jay's presence filled a room, his dad jokes were infamous, and his love for the Georgia Bulldogs was fierce and lifelong. The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 12, 2025 from 2:00 pm- 4:00 pm at McMillan-Small Funeral Home 910 67th Avenue North, Myrtle Beach, SC In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to: The Oral Cancer Foundation https://oralcancerfoundation.org/ "To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die."
