Hector Perez Obituary
Hector Perez, 90, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2025, in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Born on May 12, 1935, in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico, Hector's life was marked by quiet strength, unwavering dedication to his family and country, and a deep love that touched all who knew him.
The son of Alejandro and Elena Perez, Hector spent his early years in Puerto Rico before moving to the United States. As a young boy navigating a new language and culture, he taught himself English by reading comic books-an early testament to his determination and resilience. These qualities would define the course of his life.
Hector proudly served in the United States Navy for twenty years, rising to the rank of Chief. His military career included two tours in Vietnam, where he demonstrated steadfast courage and leadership. His service left an indelible mark on those who served alongside him and earned him the respect of many.
After retiring from the Navy, Hector embraced civilian life with the same quiet dignity that had guided him through his military years. He found joy in simple pleasures-most notably as an avid golf player-and cherished time spent with family above all else.
For forty years, Hector shared a devoted marriage with Olga, the love of his life. Together they built a blended family filled with warmth and connection. He was a loving husband and a proud father to Michelle and Mark; stepfather to Daneen, Michelle, Nicole, and Jose; and grandfather to Tyler, Kaity, Michael, Jacob, Charlie, and Dominic. His presence was a steady source of comfort and strength for each of them.
Hector was also a beloved brother to Carmen, Ed, Andy, Norman, Iris, and Norma. Though Norma preceded him in death-as did his parents Alejandro and Elena-his bond with each sibling remained an important part of his life story.
Those who knew Hector remember him as a stoic man whose quiet demeanor belied an immense capacity for love. He led by example-with humility, integrity, and deep loyalty to those he held dear.
May his memory bring comfort to all who loved him and serve as a lasting reminder of a life well lived.
