Harriette Fogarty Obituary

Pawleys Island, SC – Harriette Moseley Fogarty died in the company of her family on October 3, 2025, after suffering two strokes and an aortic aneurism. She was the loving matriarch of her family and was predeceased by her beloved husband, Robert S. Fogarty, her brother William Moseley, and her parents, William O. Moseley and Corrie Moseley. Her children Dean Fogarty, Paula Fogarty, and Lea Kwiecinski survive her along with her grandchildren, Amanda Beaumont, Jeremy Tjapkes, and Kalena Kwiecinski. A native of South Hill, Virginia, Harriette attended Averett College. Harriette married Robert S. Fogarty of Poughkeepsie, NY in 1961 having met him on a blind date a short period prior. She said it was love at first sight and the first shag dance. The two moved to South Boston, Virginia where Harriette became an excellent homemaker and manager. Throughout her adult lifetime she managed the family finances and led the interior design and landscaping for 7 homes. In support of her husband's career in the furniture industry, Harriette moved her family from South Hill, VA to Palos Verdes and Rolling Hills, CA, to Califon, NJ, Grand Rapids, MI, Debordieu, SC and finally to Pawleys Island, SC. Her decorating style was always classical yet peppered with whimsical touches to keep things interesting. Each home was always comfortable with room enough to entertain family, friends, and corporate executives. She was an excellent cook and hostess for most of her life. As an avid tennis player, she participated in leagues wherever she lived and did so with her signature sense of humor and joy. As a southern woman she embodied both grace and grit throughout her life, unabashedly calling things as she saw them, which endeared her to all who loved her. Right up to the end, she was still driving locally, paying her bills, and going to Physical Therapy and Water Aerobics with her dear friends. The family will hold a memorial event in Pawleys Island at a later date. Donations may be made in her name to the Lowcountry Food Bank https://lowcountryfoodbank.org and Miss Ruby's Kids https://www.missrubyskids.net To send flowers to the family, please visit our floral store.
