Geraldine Sweeney Obituary

Geraldine Esther Sweeney passed away peacefully on August 13, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones. Born on April 11, 1941, Geraldine had an extraordinary gift for nurturing deep, lasting relationships with those around her. Geraldine's warmth and generosity were traits she passed to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her kindness and truthfulness were appreciated by family and friends alike. Her faith in God was her guiding inspiration in all she did. She brought kindness to those she served as a nurse for over 20 years. Geraldine was pre-deceased by her loving husband of 57 years Donald and her son Edward. Survived by her siblings Elizabeth and Hugh, her children Donald (Joanne), Gretta (James), Geraldine (Oliver) and Paul (Suzette), grandchildren; Kevin, Kelly, Patrick and Mary, AnnMarie, Amanda (Chelcie), Ashley (Luke), and Alish (Nick), Tyler (Courtney), Morgan and Blake, and great grandchildren Magnolia and Iris and many nieces and nephews. Her family brought much joy and happiness to her life, especially her great grandchildren. Geraldine had a vast network of friends who became family. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held on August 23, 2025 at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Garden City at 10:00 AM. Internment will follow at the Columbarium. A Repast will be held at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel Celebration Center all are invited to attend. The family request that in lieu of flowers a donation to the food bank at St. Joseph Church 115 East Fort Lee Road, Bogota, NJ 07603 or a local food bank be made in her honor.
