Obituary: G. Edward Sinclair
June 8, 1932 - August 21, 2025
Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on June 8, 1932, to Charles H. and Helen (Gilbert) Sinclair, Edward Sinclair transitioned to Heavenly glory on August 21, 2025.
A veteran of the Korean War, he served in the United States Navy from 1951-1955 and was honorably discharged, carrying the courage and discipline of his service into every part of his life, shaping a journey defined by faith, devotion, and love.
For over fifty years, he served as an ordained minister and Major in
The Salvation Army, bringing hope and guidance to countless lives. His ministry was a shared journey with his beloved wife, Janet Thomson Wright Sinclair, whose partnership in service enriched every community they touched. Their ministry lived in every handshake, every word of comfort, and every act of kindness.
Faith and family were everything to him. He was the beloved husband of Janet, with whom he shared seventy-two years of marriage-a testament to enduring love, partnership, and devotion. A devoted father, he is survived by Marieen Joy Hanner (Robert) of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Edward Jay Sinclair (Barbara) of Newmarket, New Hampshire, and T. Jon Sinclair (Chrystal) of Frankford, New Jersey. He also leaves his cherished sister, Carolyn Merritt of Barrie, Ontario, Canada, along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and countless friends. Known affectionately as "Bumpa" by his grandchildren, Edward shared a special bond with each of them. His storytelling brought their imaginations to life, filled with humor, wisdom, and lessons learned from a life well-lived. Every visit, every shared tale, and every quiet word of encouragement strengthened a connection that will be treasured for generations
He was preceded in death by his brothers Charles Sinclair and James Sinclair, and his sisters Sally A. Price and Patty Sinclair.
Edward Sinclair's life was a tapestry of service, faith, and family. He had a gift for making people feel seen, loved, and encouraged. His guidance, laughter, and quiet strength left an enduring mark on all who knew him.
Though his earthly journey has ended, his spirit shines beyond the horizon. We will carry him in every act of kindness, every whispered prayer, and every treasured memory.
Until we meet again, beyond the sunset, we will honor him, love him, and keep his legacy alive in our hearts forever.
