George Schmidt Obituary

George David Schmidt, 91, of Pawleys Island, SC passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Monday May 5, 2025, at Inlet Coastal Resort in Murrells Inlet, SC.
Along with his parents, George is reunited in passing with his loving wife of 68 years, Mary Louise Schmidt, his sister, Dorothy Johnson and his brother-in-law, Charles Johnson.
Formerly of Emmaus, PA, George was born May 7, 1933, in Pennsauken, NJ, the son of the late George E. Schmidt and Genevieve Kensler Schmidt.
Left to cherish George's memory are his loving sons, Scott Schmidt and wife Ruth of Bainbridge Island, WA; Kevin Schmidt of Allentown, PA; loving daughter, Colleen Welch and her husband Glenn of Murrells Inlet, SC; beloved grandchildren, Joshua (Chelsea) Schmidt of Emmaus, PA; Morgan Welch of Raleigh, NC and Madison Welch of Murrells Inlet, SC; great grandsons, Carter and Landon Schmidt; several nieces and a nephew, a large, loving, extended family and many supportive friends and neighbors.
He was a proud United States Navy Veteran who served during the Korean War. George graduated from Central Catholic High School in Allentown, PA and was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Garden City, SC. He enjoyed crabbing, vacations, traveling and tinkering in his garage. But he especially enjoyed spending time with his family.
A Celebration of George's Life will be held at a later date.
