George Neumann Obituary
George Neumann III, 81, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2025, surrounded by love. Born on September 8, 1944, in Columbus, Mississippi, to Jack and Mary Neumann, George lived a life rich with purpose, laughter, and devotion.
A proud Navy veteran, George embodied the values of honor, courage, and commitment long after his service ended. He brought those same principles to every part of his life, as a father, friend, and lifelong learner. A graduate of Georgetown University, he never stopped feeding his deep curiosity and love of reading, which fueled his wisdom and humor alike.
George had a rare gift: the ability to make others laugh, even in life's hardest moments. His wit was sharp, his timing perfect, and his laughter infectious. Beneath that humor was a heart of extraordinary compassion, a man who listened deeply, loved fiercely, and lived fully.
A devoted golfer and respected figure in the hospitality industry, George brought the same integrity, warmth, and attention to detail to his professional life that he did to his personal one. His leadership and dedication earned the respect of colleagues and friends throughout his career.
He treasured his family above all else. His five daughters - Shannon, Ashley, Megan, Heather, and Kelsey, and his sons-in-law, Joel and Ryan, were the pride of his life. His strength, laughter, and love live on in his children, a reflection of the best parts of him carried into the world.
His grandchildren, Lucas, Olivia, and Emma, will inherit not just his stories, but his spirit, the warmth, wit, and light he shared so freely.
George is survived by former wife and mother of his children, Barbara; his sister, Lorry; and his nieces and nephews - Karen, Wendy, Ron, Chip, and Brian - all of whom were touched by his kindness and spirited presence. His days were woven with connection, generosity, and the kind of laughter that brought people closer together.
George was predeceased by many loved ones, including his sister Diane, who no doubt welcomed him home with warmth and laughter.
A celebration of George's life will be held the fourth week in November, with details to follow. Family and friends will gather to share stories, laughter, and memories.
Surrounded by five daughters and endless laughter, he built a life that was full in every sense.
