Gary Bloodsworth Obituary

Gary Wayne Bloodsworth, 78, passed away peacefully at home in the early morning of May 21st, 2025 surrounded by his family. Gary was born to Arthur Dale Bloodsworth and Flossie Bell Walters Bloodsworth on October 24, 1946 in Baltimore, Maryland. He later retired and resided in Conway, South Carolina with his late wife who passed away just a few months ago. Gary was a advid fisherman and hunter. He was a lover of Pepsi, Entenmanns chocolate doughnuts, Maryland crabs, shrimp, sugar cookies, and always had Lifesaver wintergreen mints on him. He appreciated law enforcement shows, Hallmark movies, and watching his beloved Baltimore Ravens and Orioles. He was a proud U.S. Army veteran who devoted two tours to his country in the Vietnam war. He received multiple medals for his bravery and service in foreign territory. Gary is survived by his two daughters, Kimberly O'Connor and Christina (Scott) Bloodsworth-Allen, his grandchildren, Alexis (Landen) Murray, Caitlyn O'Connor, Sydney O'Connor, Gavin Allen, and Ethan Wayne (named after Gary) Allen, and his great-granddaughter, Emersyn Murray. Gary is preceded in death by his wife, Janice Bloodsworth, his parents, Arthur and Flossie Bloodsworth, and his siblings, Judith (Budd) Bull and Robert Bloodsworth. Gary will forever be remembered for his witty and outgoing personality. His devotion to his wife and family is inspiring and a testament to the depth of his heart. He faced many of triumphs and through it all his love remained a constant. His generosity and affection extended beyond family - he was always there for his friends, offering support in ways that truly mattered. He didn't know a stranger! No tribute to Gary would be complete without a few laughs. He enjoyed making people smile with his jokes and misfortunate stories. He will always be our "Gar-bear", "dad", and "poppop." To know him was to love him! A celebration of Gary's life will be held on Thursday, May 29, 2025 as follows: 10:00 am: McMillan-Small Funeral Home and Crematory (910 67th Ave N, Myrtle Beach, SC 29572) 1:00 pm: Cemetery/Graveside; Florence National Cemetary (803 E National Cemetary Rd, Florence, SC 29506). All are welcome! Psalm 23: The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
