Francis Mossey Obituary
Francis Robert "Bob" Mossey Jr. peacefully passed away at home in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, on May 31, 2025, surrounded by loving family and friends.
Fondly known as Bob, or Red to those truly close to him, was born on June 11,1947, in Rochester, New York. Growing up, he proved to be a talented athlete, with swimming, ice hockey, and baseball being at the top of his preferences. From altar boy at St. Helen's Catholic Church to an MBA graduate at Rochester Institute of Technology, he reached towards success with his ultimate career achievement being his contract work with NASA on the international space station. Whether camping in the Adirondack Mountains, traveling to the Caribbean, running to stay fit, or sipping a cocktail at a Jimmy Buffett concert, he championed the phrase "living a life out loud." This was most evident with his business partnership in Crocodile Rocks, Revolutions, and Blarney Stones. With all of the roles he carried throughout his life, he truly embraced the one of Coach where he was able to translate his love for baseball to the softball field, having positively impacted the lives of many youth players.
Bob's loving spirit is carried on by his life partner, Carey Macaulay-Schild, with whom he spent his retired years. Whether relaxing poolside, working on the yard, or exercising at the gym, they were inseparable and "matching." He continues to be cherished by his daughters, Kimberly Mossey-Darnell and Kelly Mossey-Huff-Bowen, as well as his sons-in-law Lucas Darnell and Adam Bowen, all who reside in Northern Virginia. Bob, also, held the fond title of brother to his siblings Mary Ann Friedberg, Mary Frances "Fritzie" Griess, Richard "Rick" Mossey, Mary Elizabeth "Betsy" Mossey, James "Jim" Mossey, and Mary Catherine "Casey" Bennett. In addition, Bob was a caring brother-in-law, uncle, and friend to so many. Preceding him in peace were his parents, Francis Robert "Frank" Mossey Sr. and Irene Wegman-Mossey, and his brother John Mossey.
To honor his memory, a celebration of life will take place later this summer in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, as will be communicated by immediate family.
