Ernest Kregeloh Obituary

Ernest Charles Kregeloh, age 78, of Conway, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2025. He was predeceased by his devoted parents, Ernest J. and Helena K. Cannon Kregeloh; his beloved sister, Ann Marie Lewis; his cherished wife, Sandra L. Virginis Kregeloh; and his loving daughter, Stacy L. Kregeloh. Mr. Kregeloh, affectionately known as "Ernie," was born and raised in New Brunswick, New Jersey. He was a graduate of New Brunswick High School and a proud veteran of the United States Air Force. Following his honorable discharge, he settled in Edison, New Jersey, where he raised his children: Ernest M., Donaven A., Jennifer R., and Stacy L. Kregeloh. A dedicated member of the American Legion Post #435 for over 50 years, Ernie was a proud advocate for fellow veterans and his local community. In 2006, he and his family relocated to Conway, South Carolina, to enjoy their retirement. Ernie had a zest for life and a deep passion for sports. A devoted Rutgers University football fan, he rarely missed a game. He also enjoyed golfing, fishing, playing softball, bowling, and singing country music. His playful spirit and signature habit of singing with the car windows down-often to the amusement (and embarrassment) of his daughters-captured his joyful and lighthearted nature. He was a beloved husband, father, uncle and friend, known for his warmth, humor, and generosity. As a grandfather, he took great pride in sharing life lessons and creating special memories with his grandchildren, Cassandra T. and Dominick J. Ales. He was also a skilled home cook, known for his famous macaroni and cheese, shrimp cocktail, and many other family favorites. Sandy never felt the need to go out to eat with all of his signature meals. Ernie is survived by his devoted daughter, Jennifer R. Ales, and her husband Christopher; his sons, Edward D. Kreitz, Ernest M. Kregeloh and Donaven A. Kregeloh; as well as numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends who will cherish his memory. A joint celebration of the lives of Ernest C. and Sandra L. Kregeloh will be held on Saturday, October 11th at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Resurrection Cemetery, Apostles Chapel, Hoes Lane, Piscataway, New Jersey.
