Ernest Hucks Obituary

Loris. Ernest Hucks, age 85, passed away on Monday, July 14, 2025. Mr. Hucks was born in Galivants Ferry on November 12, 1939, a son of the late Lee and Lessie Rogers Hucks. He proudly served his country, joining the Army in 1959 serving most of his time in the European theatre attaining the rank of Sergeant until his separation from the Army in 1962. Upon returning home to Horry County, he went to work for an international lumber company, where he was employed as a troubleshooter covering the states of North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia. During his twenty years of employment in the lumber industry, he was constantly on the go and moving a total of six times. Mr. Hucks became a Master Mason and a Shriner and in 1979 was recognized as the Shriner of the Year for lower South Carolina. After his career in the lumber industry, Mr. Hucks was the owner and operator of the Krystal Villa Motel in Myrtle Beach for many years. He later established and opened The Vacuum Center of North Myrtle Beach and was the sole proprietor for 32 years. He was predeceased by his first wife, Doris Allen and his second wife, Linda Todd Hucks. Surviving are: two daughters, Kimberly L. Lloyd (Joey) of Punta Gorda, FL and Karen H. Merritt of Aynor; two grandchildren, Zach Merritt (Kaleigh) of Mullins, SC and Brittany Graham (Eddie) of Conway; three great grandchildren, Audrey, Greyson, and Madeline; two sisters, Nyoka Hucks (Jackie) of Aynor, SC and Ruby Moore (Silvis) of Matthews, NC; and one brother, Roger Dale Hucks of Galivants Ferry, SC. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 Thursday, July 17, 2025 at Rehobeth Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall following the service.
