Eric Soper Obituary
Mr. Soper was born in New Haven, Connecticut to Richard E. and Nancy R. Nieman Soper.
Survivors include a sister, Kristin Rowen of Myrtle Beach, SC, a niece, Carly Rowen of Wilmington, NC, a nephew, Connor Rowen of West Hartford, CT and many cousins and friends in Connecticut and New Hampshire.
Eric enjoyed guitars, music, cooking, and golfing. He attended Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven, Connecticut and Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, and was a graduate of New England Culinary Institute in Montpelier, Vermont.
After graduation from New England Culinary Institute, Eric worked as the Executive Chef for St. Thomas Seminary in Bloomfield, Connecticut. He later chose a career change and joined the US Post Office, initially in Simsbury Connecticut before relocating to Murrells Inlet Post Office where he enjoyed his work, made many close friendships with colleagues. Eric loved all the postal customers and built many great relationships with them.
A Funeral Liturgy will be held at 4:00 PM Saturday March 21, 2026 at Burroughs Funeral Home in Murrells Inlet. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 2 hours prior to the service from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org
The family would like to extend special thanks to everyone at Tidelands Health Oncology. The entire team was outstanding and appreciated.

I played softball with Eric 35 years ago,great kid. Always fun to hang out with! I will fondly remember he and Bob McDonald aka "Duck" or " Soup bone Bob" playing acoustic guitar in my backyard at one of our parties singing " Knocking on Heaven's Door"! Ironically they're both in Heaven! Great kid. Condolences to his family. RIP Eric! You were great!

My heartfelt condolences to Kris and family. Eric was a kind and caring guy and brought joy to those who spent time with him. He was great at gathering people and creating experiences. Lots of camping trips, concerts, trips to MA—even getting the neighborhood to train for a 5K! He will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with you Kris.

Cub Scouts, little league, elementary school, Spring Glen pharmacy, young adulthood. All good memories of Eric. Eric had no enemies, such a great person to have had as a friend growing up.

Eric was our USPS mail carrier in International Club The Links for a number of years and what a delightful man he was so friendly and efficient and kind
We were told he was on leave never imagining he was sick and we all have missed him dearly only to learned today of his passing sincere sympathy to his family and loved ones and may he R.I.P. with no more suffering. Thanks Eric for your years of good service. Brenda Smith
