Elvis Smith Obituary

Elvis "Smitty" Smith, affectionately known as "Smitty", was born on December 26, 1960, in Conway, South Carolina. Mr. Smith, son of Martha and Edward Smith, attended the Horry County Public Schools, where he began developing the discipline and determination that would later define his life. In his youth, he was a highly skilled boxer, earning respect for his talent. At the age of 18, he embraced the Islamic faith and adopted the name Hasan, a reflection of his spiritual journey. Smitty was a loving father to two daughters: Ishia and Yasmeen Spain; and a proud grandfather to Monk and Sincere. He was preceded in death by his parents and the majority of his siblings, with the exception of his brother, Earl Smith, and sister, Viola Rice. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A staple in his community and family, Smitty was known for his witty sense of humor, love of life, warmth, and steadfast support of those he loved. His presence enriched the lives of many, and his legacy of love, faith, and resilience will continue to inspire those who knew him. Arrangements are currently incomplete and will be announced by Latimer's Funeral Home. To send flowers to the family, please visit our floral store.
