David Medich Obituary

Conway It is with profound sadness to share the devastating loss of Mr. David "Doc" George Medich. Mr. Medich passed away on Sunday, May 25, 2025 at home surrounded by his family. Born April 11, 1957 in Pittsburgh, PA, he was the son of the late Gabriel and Dorothy Gavlik Medich. Mr. Medich leaves behind his wife of 45 years, Teresa Zavada Medich, who was his high school sweetheart. They were together for 52 years in total. In addition to his loving wife, Mr. Medich is survived by his fur baby, Venus; a sister, Marcie Ward and husband, Michael, as well as their children, Cassandra and Gabriel; two brothers-in-law, Gregory Zavada and Cyril Zavada, Jr. and partner, Cathi; a nephew, Cyril Zavada, III; a niece, Amanda Zavada; and a great nephew, Connor Panico. In addition to his parents, Mr. Medich was predeceased by his fur babies, Caesar, Cleopatra, Zeus, and Thor; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Cyril Zavada, Sr. and Marjorie Cape Zavada; and a sister-in-law, Agnes Dahman. He touched the lives of so many and will forever be remembered for his kindness, big heart, and leadership of which he was so very proud. The pouring out of love through our unexpected journey is beyond words we thank you for that. Mr. Medich worked for Aetna for 39 years. Through hard work and dedication, Mr. Medich was able to move up within the company all the way to Executive Director and this allowed him to mentor and help many fellow employees along the way. He was an avid sports fan, especially for the Pittsburgh Steelers; he loved all sports and was an Allstar basketball player as well as a great softball pitcher for many teams that allowed him to win many championships. Mr. Medich enjoyed motorcycles, having served as the president of the Indian Valley Hog Chapter Motorcycle Club. Through this, he found hundreds of brothers and sisters. He also enjoyed golf, casinos, and Saturday night date nights with his wife which consisted of dinner and a movie. In lieu of flowers or gifts of ANY kind, the family requests memorial donations be made in Mr. Medich's memory to a charity of your choice helping children, animals, or veterans. He had the biggest smile and a big laugh that always made me smile in return. We became more than colleagues in the past 13 years we became friends. The world has lost an amazing man, but I know that heaven has gained an angel. My heart goes out to his family, his fur baby and his friends that he fiercely loved and protected. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone during this so difficult time.
