Hartsville, SC
Mr. Daniel Wayne Walker, 57, passed away Saturday, September 13, 2025, at his home in Hartsville following an extended illness.
Born March 13, 1968, in Iaeger, WV, Dan was the beloved son of the late Truman Walker and Lillian Mae Church Stone, who tragically passed away just hours after him. A dedicated public servant, Dan proudly served as a Lieutenant with the Myrtle Beach Fire Department, and his last assignment during his 21 years of service with the MBFD was as the Public Information Officer. He found great joy in teaching fire safety to young children, always eager to share his knowledge with the next generation.
While Dan had a long and distinguished career, his greatest pride was his family. Above all, he cherished his role as a father and Pops. He was especially devoted to his grandchildren, Beckett and Charlotte Hutchinson, who brought him endless joy and light. He loved spending time with them, offering wisdom, laughter, and an abundance of love. Watching them grow and being part of their lives was one of his deepest pleasures.
Dan was known for his caring heart, his love for gardening, and his pride in being the "Favorite Uncle." His sense of humor and generous spirit endeared him to everyone he met. He was also an avid prepper, known for his careful preparation, whether it was stocking up on supplies or indulging in survival stories through Audible Books. Alongside his grandchildren, Dan's life was filled with the love of his children-Devin Walker and Caitlyn Hutchinson (Tyler)-as well as his siblings: Teresa Guillen, Steven Walker (Mary), Cathy Walker, Sheila Harrah (Jesse), James Walker, Thomas Walker (Tammy), and Jeffrey Walker. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and extended family who will forever remember his kindness and devotion.
Dan's passing leaves a hole in the hearts of all who knew him, but his legacy lives on through the love and memories he shared with his children, grandchildren, and extended family.
The family will receive friends Friday, September 19, 2025 from 5:00PM-7:00PM at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at Hillcrest Cemetery.
