Daniel Nelson Obituary

Daniel Thomas Nelson II, age 53, passed away Wednesday, August 27, 2025. Thomas was born in Conway a son of the late Daniel Thomas Nelson and the late Doris Ann Smith. Thomas was a 1990 graduate of Waccamaw Academy in Conway and attended Horry -Georgetown Tech. He was an all-star athlete in football and baseball. He coached 12U baseball at Conway Recreation Department and was an assistant coach for the 2025 12U Conway all-star team. Thomas loved music and the South Carolina shag. He enjoyed fishing and cooking for his family and friends. He enjoyed working with his hands and was a master carpenter and painter by trade. He was a seventh generation member of Hebron Church in Bucksville and most recently attended church at the Refuge in Conway. Thomas was a loving son, brother, father, uncle, friend, and mentor, but most importantly he loved God and was grateful to share his testimony of the love and faithfulness of Jesus Christ. Survivors include one daughter, Lillie Savannah Nelson of Conway; one son, Luke Mason Nelson of Conway; his fiancé, Heather Causey of Conway; one sister, Asa L. Nelson of Conway; one brother, Andrew Nelson (Kinsley Foltz) of Conway; one nephew, Joseph Jordan of Conway; two nieces, Abbi Meckley (Joe) of Conway and Caroline Richardson (Brent) of Aynor; three great nephews; and two great nieces. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, September 1, 2025 at The Refuge, 290 Dunn Shortcut Road in Conway with Rev. Jason Cook and Rev. Brad Parnell officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends Monday from 12:00 PM until 1:45 PM at The Refuge.
