Our mother was a fire. She brought warmth and comfort, and she made life familiar. She loved in the only way she knew how but she loved hard, but like all fires, they can spread. We are spread now the remnants and embers of the source from where we came, each carrying within us a piece of it; I grieve for us all; I grieve for the familiar and the shadow it cast and how the world is that much darker for you being gone. I hope you found peace in whatever form that took, and I hope the transition was like when we were young, and you carried us to our rooms warm, safe, and with love. I will carry who you were always. I love you, Mom.
