Cassy Sollecchio Obituary

Cassy Louise (Hantla) Sollecchio, 1953-2025 Cassy Louise (Hantla) Sollecchio, 71, a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, unexpectedly passed away on Friday, August 8, 2025, at Grand Strand Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. She was born on November 1, 1953, in Meade, Kansas, to Leroy and Ruth (Peterson) Hantla. She attended Meade Elementary, Junior, and High School prior to attending Fort Hays State University before moving to San Antonio, Texas. She had a couple of different jobs in the education field prior to working in the mortgage business up until her retirement. She married Jim Sollecchio on September 28, 1984, and they lived in Aurora, Colorado, until the summer of 2018, when they moved to Conway, South Carolina, to escape the winter snow and high altitude. Cassy was the proud mother of Jamee Ulitzky (Josh), who resides in Aurora, Colorado, and James (J.D.) Gillen (Emily) who lives in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida as well as her stepdaughter, Dana Byers (Joe) who lives in Henderson, Nevada. Her greatest pride and joy were her grandchildren: Alexsis Gillen, Joseph Ulitzky, Aspen Gillen, Jordan Ulitzky, Julia Ulitzky, and step-grandchildren Alexa Byers and Reese Byers. She also leaves behind her loyal dog, Buddy. In her younger days, Cassy stayed active playing softball and shuffling her kids from one sporting event or activity to another. She never missed her kids' games and activities. In her spare time, she enjoyed camping and boating and was a loyal Kansas City Chiefs fan. She always offered to babysit and spoil her grandkids, and she looked forward to times with her extended family, siblings, and nieces or nephews. She would talk often about her younger years growing up in such a large family and living in a small town. She enjoyed traveling and seeing new places, and much preferred the warm beaches over the cold mountains. Cassy is preceded in death by her parents, and is survived by her husband, her children, and their families, all of her siblings: Beverly Burris (Max), Sue Dougherty (Max), Gayla Yingling (Jim), Brian Hantla, Cindy Wehkamp (Paul), Marsha Hantla-Lamont (Tom), Janice Hantla-Brewer and Troy Hantla (Sharon), and many nieces and nephews. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place with a celebration of her life to be held in the coming weeks. Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade, Kansas, has been entrusted with the arrangements. Mrs. Sollecchio is entrusted to Kelvin F. Lewis, the funeral director, and the Lewis Crematory & Funeral Home staff of Myrtle Beach, SC.
