Carol Tanner Obituary
Formerly of Georgetown, SC, Carol was born in Hemingway, SC the daughter of the late Esvaughn and Vernelle Ard.
She was the proud owner of Coastal Termite & Pest Control for over 40 years. In her youth Carol was an avid and talented basketball player who set records during her high school career. She loved fishing, especially at her secret honey hole in the inlet as well as gardening and spending time outdoors. But Carol's greatest love was spending time with her family.
Survivors include her loving children, Jeffrey Dan Tanner (Diana) of West Columbia, SC; Timothy Esvaughn Tanner (Donna Gaye) of Johnsonville, SC; Carol Danette Smith of Murrells Inlet, SC; Tiffanie Tanner Hucks (Eric) of Murrells Inlet, SC; grandchildren, Mason Tanner (Heather) of West Columbia, SC; Blaine Douglas (Taylor) of Murrells Inlet, SC; Kayla Alford (Matt) of Murrells Inlet, SC; Austin Eaddy (BJ) of Georgetown, SC; Jordan Tanner (Carisa) of Columbia, SC; Hanna Fulmer (Trevor) of Little Mountain, SC; Landan Ariail of Myrtle Beach; Luke Tanner of Johnsonville, SC; Leigh Ann Tanner of Johnsonville, SC; Cody Hucks of Hemingway, SC; Kasee Hucks of Charleston, SC; Cain Hucks (Ansley) of Johnsonville, SC; Kaylyn Hucks (Dexter) of Georgetown, SC; great grandchildren, Tanner Haynes, Owen Light, Amelia Rose Alford, Brier Tanner, Brexley Tanner, Briggs Tanner, Braz Tanner, Camron Harrison, Levi Eaddy, Hallie Kate Hucks, Harper Nell Hucks and Eleanor Tanner; brother, Henry Joe Ard (Karen) of Georgetown, SC.
A Celebration of Carol's Life will be held 3:00 PM Sunday March 9, 2024, at Burroughs Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Murrells Inlet, SC.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the time of service from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
The family would like to express a special "Thank You" to Tidelands Hospice and Magnolia Bridge at Murrells Inlet Memory Care and to Jeanette Ard of Colonial Florist.

When I heard about this my heart began hurting. Carol was my best friend during high school. We played basketball together, she was amazing on the court. She taught me how to water ski. What ever we were doing, we were having fun. Carol was a bridesmaid in my wedding but after that, we lost contact with each other. I have always regretted that.
I am so sad for her family who will have to go on without her. After high school, I never had another friend like Carol. "So much water underneath the bridge, let the water carry us away."
