Carol Lucic Obituary
Just after midnight on August 2, 2025, Carol Ann Thompson Lucic passed away. A beloved wife, sister, daughter, aunt, and friend, Carol's life was defined by the boundless joy and love she brought to the world.
Her story began on September 26, 1959, when she was born in Darby, Pennsylvania. The daughter of Donald H. and Peggy Thompson, Carol grew up in both Delaware and Pennsylvania. An avid cheerleader at Smyrna High School, some of Carol's earliest pleasures were the simple ones; Friday night football games, exploring her childhood home of Smyrna, DE and then Unionville, PA, and cruising around town with her friends.
Upon graduation from Unionville High School, Carol embarked on her court reporting career at the Popkin School of Court Reporting in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. Her career kept her based in and around Philadelphia, including in Westchester, where she would meet her neighbor-turned-husband, Edward Lucic.
Carol and Ed were married on November 14th, 1997, forming a loving and supportive union that lasted until her final moments. Together, Carol and Ed embarked on a fantastic set of adventures, beginning when they bought their first boat which would take them from Havre de Grace, Maryland, to Baltimore Harbor. There, Carol and Ed would spend two decades as locals on the boat, hosting 4th of July celebrations and making deep, lasting friendships with neighbors and fellow sailors. Through the couple's ups and downs in fortune, Carol would go on to regard her time in Baltimore as the happiest years of her life.
By the mid-2010s, Carol and Ed relocated to the South Carolina Lowcountry. Here she quickly acclimated to the savory pace of life, enjoying walks on the beach, a 5 o'clock beer with friends and family, and dining on fish, shrimp and grits. Beyond exploring the East Coast, Carol was an adventurer at heart, having visited Italy, Croatia, Scotland, France, England, Greece, and a myriad other destinations in her limitless life.
This short summary of Carol's life is just a glimpse into her profound character. In her 65 years of life Carol was a vibrant, exuberant, bubbly presence to all who knew her. Her inherent playfulness and charisma were anchored to a strong work ethic and steadfast devotion to her loved ones. Wherever you found her, Carol greeted you with a beautiful smile and genuine excitement. Her love and friendship offered shelter from the downpours and high tides of life, a refuge that still remains in her passing.
Carol will be deeply missed and her memory cherished by her husband, Edward; her father, Donald; her siblings, Patricia L. (Mickey) and Donald "Drew" (Kirsten); her nephews and nieces; Michael, Christian, Casey; her aunt Grace Allen (Avery "Dusty") and cousins David Allen and Roxanne Yerkes, the Weaver family of PA, as well as many more nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews, in-laws, and loving and supportive friends from her boating community, across the neighborhood and country. Heartfelt appreciation goes to Debra Walker and William Dean Jenkins of Pawleys Island.
A Remembrance Gathering will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, August 25, 2025, at Litchfield Country Club, 619 Country Club Drive, Pawleys Island, SC 29585. Flowers and memorials for the Remembrance Gathering should be sent to the Litchfield Country Club, attention Hillary Ross.
