Ben Yohe Obituary

Mr. Bentley Jay "Ben" Yohe, age 80, passed away peacefully at Conway Medical Center on Monday, June 23, 2025, with his long-time best friend, Tony Hagerud, by his side. Born August 23, 1944 in Chambersburg, PA, Ben was the son of the late George and Ruth Anna Rhoades Yohe and of his foster parents, Paul Hornbaker and the late Grace Hornbaker. The Hornbaker family lovingly, and without hesitation, took Ben in and raised him, providing all that he needed. Ben graduated from Shippensburg (PA) High School in June 1964 and joined the United States Marine Corps, serving his country until 1968, with a tour in Vietnam. He was an Instructor/Trainer and learned to speak Vietnamese. While in service he received the Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with one star, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry, the Presidential Unit Citation, the Good Conduct Medal, and the Marksman Badge. Ben worked 42 years at Anheuser Busch as a warehouse manager, where he met Tony, and they formed a life-long friendship. He took pleasure in the simpler things in life and enjoyed mowing grass and taking care of his yard and watching racing. Ben was a member of Grace United Church of Christ in Shippensburg. Ben was predeceased by his wife of 36 years, Nadine B. Yohe; birth parents, George and Ruth Yohe; his foster mother, Grace Hornbaker, his siblings, Gladys Hershey, Larry (Joe) Booze, Sr., Richard "Dick" Yohe, Donald "Donnie" Yohe; Betty Verdier, and his step son-in-law, Gerald Rabon. Survivors include his stepson, William F. "Billy" Sulzer and his wife Marie and his step-daughter Kathleen Rabon; his grandchildren, James William Sulzer and his wife Sherry, Bryan Jay Sulzer and his wife Gena, Sabrina Barnes and her husband Mike, and Susan Hepler and her husband Jason; his great-grandchildren, Jenna Sulzer, Abigail Sulzer, Cory Williams, Andrea Sulzer, Jayson, Makenzy, and James; and his siblings, Louise Gibson, Galen Yohe, Mary Jane West, Gary Buck, and Roberta Martin.
