Barbara Mendez Obituary

Barbara Ann Mendez, 68, passed away Sunday, June 22, 2025, at Conway Medical with her loving family by her side. She was born December 6, 1956 in Horry County, the daughter of the late L.B and Mary Ann Hardee Powell. Barbara had the biggest heart, always giving and helping others. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She loved spending time with family and friends, dancing and listening to music. In addition to her parents, Barbara was predeceased by her siblings, Frank Powell, Helen Lawson, and Wanda Baker. She is survived by her son, Terry Johnson; daughters, Kerry Maldonado (Angel), and Sherry Mendez (Victor); sister, Bonnie Conn (Robin); seven grandchildren Lloyd Angel Maldonado (Ashley), Ana Maldonado, Sofia Maldonado, Juan Sixto Maldonado (Citlali), Ricky Maldonado (Elizabeth), Eric Mendez, and Mariana Mendez; sister-in-law, Annie Bell Johnson, who she referred to as her sis and best friend; six great grandchildren, Kayden, Koleysn, Jovani, Jay, Jaxxon, Xavier, and many others friends and family who will miss her. Funeral Services will be held 3:00pm, Tuesday, June 24 at Watson Funeral Services Chapel, with Rev. Ray Cribb officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 2:45, prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove FWB Church Cemetery.
