Anthony Avallone Obituary

Anthony "Tony" J. Avallone, 90, slipped peacefully into eternal life in his sleep on August 30, 2025, at 1:15 a.m. Tony was born on October 12, 1934, in Jersey City, NJ, to Domenico and Antonietta Avallone, and raised in West New York with his loving brothers and sisters. From an early age, he showed determination and grit, working his way through college by running his brother's Daily News route. After earning his degree from Saint Peter's University, Tony began his career with General Foods before joining the Internal Revenue Service, where he served with pride until retiring in the 1980s. Tony was the proud father of Gregory, Kathy and their children Ryan and Alyssa; Mark, Tina and their daughter Abigail; and Anthony and his daughter Anelle. He adored being a father and grandfather, and his family adored him just as much. He was also the beloved brother of Lucy Giarratano, and he held close the memory of his late siblings Nancy (Vergona), Mary (Hargaden), Domenick, John, and Ralph. His nieces, nephews, and friends will always remember his warmth, humor, and unwavering loyalty. Tony's passion for music was legendary. Blessed with a voice that audiences swore rivaled Frank Sinatra's, he became a beloved entertainer in Naples, Florida, where he lived for over 20 years. Friends often flew him across the country to sing at weddings and special occasions, knowing Tony's voice would make the night unforgettable. Singing wasn't just something he did-it was how he brought joy to others. In recent years, Tony moved to Myrtle Beach to be close to Gregory, Kathy, Ryan and Alyssa. This move proved to be a gift, as it gave Tony the chance to share countless days filled with love, laughter, and simple joys alongside his children and grandchildren. A man of deep faith, Tony carried the Jesuit values he learned at Saint Peter's throughout his life. He believed in living with humility, gratitude, and love for others. His family takes comfort in knowing he is now at peace in the arms of the Lord he so faithfully served. In honor of his giving spirit, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, a cause close to his heart A Funeral Service in celebration of Tony's life will be held at 2PM on Saturday September 6, 2025 at Burroughs Funeral Home, 3558 Old Kings Highway, Murrells Inlet, SC. The family will gather to greet friends from 1PM until the time of service. A graveside service will immediately follow a procession to Hillcrest Cemetery, 100 Hwy 544, Conway, SC 29562.
