Stewart McPheters Obituary

Stewart Eugene McPheters, of Goose Creek, SC, passed away on August 20, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born on February 14, 1947, in Franklin, PA, to George S. and Wilma (Minnick) McPheters of Chapmanville, PA. Stewart lived a life devoted to faith, family, and service. After graduating from Townville Consolidated High School, Stewart proudly served in the United States Army. Following his military service, he earned a degree in Business Administration from Oral Roberts University, which began a long and accomplished career in financial management. He worked closely with his mentor, Fred Vanstone, at Oral Roberts Ministries in Tulsa, OK, and later at a clothing manufacturer in Vancouver, BC. Stewart went on to serve as Chief Financial Officer for a tooling manufacturer in Brunswick, GA, before continuing his career with the State of Georgia. Over the years, he held consulting positions with different organizations until his retirement. He was respected for his integrity, leadership, and unwavering dedication to excellence. Beyond his professional life, Stewart approached everything with energy and passion. He was active in the Golden Isles Track Club, completing multiple marathons-including one he famously ran without training (something he did not recommend). He was also an avid golfer, woodworker, and technology enthusiast. Stewart will be remembered for his quiet strength, quick wit, and the encouragement he shared so generously with others. Stewart is survived by his loving wife, Kathy Richards McPheters; his sisters, MaryAnn Herrington of Meadville, PA, and Barbara Corey (David) of Sun City West, AZ; his brothers, Paul L. McPheters of Meadville, PA, and Scott O. McPheters (Susan) of Tulsa, OK; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who cherished him. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Nancy Lee Heth; and his brother-in-law, Robert C. Herrington. Stewart will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His legacy of faith, service, hard work, devotion to family, and zest for life will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
