Marjorie Taylor Obituary

It is with much love and abiding faith in God's promise of eternal life that we announce the passing of Marjorie 'Margo' Richey Taylor who entered into eternal rest on September 19, 2025 at the age of 91 in Summerville, SC. Margo was born on February 13, 1934, in Piedmont, SC, the daughter of the late Hyren Washington and Frances Clardy Richey. Margo is survived by her daughters: Debra Lynn Zager (Joe) and Susan Elizabeth Fernandez (Tony). In addition to her daughters, she is survived by her brother, Jim Richey (Wanda) of Easley, SC, five grandchildren (Hunter Bishop, Anthony Fernandez, Ben Zager (Ashley), Alex Zager, and Lauren Zager) and four great grandchildren (Wesley Bishop, Emery, Griffin, and Addison Zager). She was predeceased by brothers: Jerry, Paul and Byrum Richey; and sisters: Etta Ruff, Madge McKenzie, Thrace Burnett, Barbara Richey and Sandra Jean Richey. She graduated from Ellen Woodside High School, attended Lander College, and had lengthy and fulfilling careers as a kindergarten teacher, model, and yoga instructor. She will be remembered for her generosity, humor, and deep commitment to her family and friends. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the lights of her life, bringing her endless joy, pride, and purpose. And she was especially appreciative of her friendships at the Village in Summerville, as well as the love and affection of all her extended family, especially Scott and Michelle Burnett, Beth Burnett Anderson, Cathleen Zager, Suzanne Davis Glenn, and Kris Gray. A memorial service, which will include Margo, will be held at the Presbyterian Village of Summerville on Sunday October 5th at 2 P.M. All are welcome to attend. A reception will follow. Additionally, a memorial service will be held on October 25, 2025 at 1:00 P.M. at Easley First Baptist Church, 300 East First Avenue, Easley, SC 29640. All who knew and loved Margo are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Beyond BASIC Life Skills of Summerville, SC.
