Margaret Wright "Snookie" Cumbee, 81, of Cordesville/Moncks Corner SC passed away at home surrounded by her family on Thursday Oct 09, 2025 at 1:30pm just four days shy of her 82nd birthday.
Snookie battled several illnesses and ailments over the years. She was diagnosed with colon cancer in the year 1999 and had successful surgery in October 2000. She was then diagnosed with COPD(EMPHYSEMA) in 2009. She was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2015. Then she was diagnosed with kidney failure in 2023. And lastly she was diagnosed with congestive heart failure in early 2025. She was a fighter until the very end.
Snookie was born in Charleston, South Carolina on October 13, 1943. As a little girl she attended Church with her Grandpa(Jake) and Grandmother(Maggie) Wright. She graduated from Macedonia High School. After high school she worked at William Heller, INC until they closed down the local plant. She was a stay at home Mother for a period then started working as a customer service rep at the local Bingo Halls. While raising two of her three kids on her own, she would continue to work bingo for a total of over 40 years. Snookie also worked customer service at Sonoco for 10 years. She was dedicated to her work and taking care of her children. Snookie's grandchildren and great grandchildren knew her as Nook Nook, later changed to Noo Noo(new-new).
She enjoyed cooking, spending time with family, working on her word find puzzles and watching her favorite TV shows. She enjoyed the old Westerns with "Gunsmoke" being her favorite of all. John Wayne and Tom Selleck were among her favorites to watch as well. She also enjoyed listening to Elvis Presley and Country oldies like Patsy Cline.
She was predeceased by her parents Ocie A. Sr and Virginia(West) Wright, a sister Rebecca "Joyce" Wright, a brother Ocie A. "Peter" Wright Jr. and a nephew Anthony "Cricket" Wright.
She is survived by her children James "Jimmy" & Tracy Cumbee of Aiken, SC: Robert Cumbee of Ladson, SC: Marvin "Bay" & Carrie Cumbee of Moncks Corner, SC and many grandchildren/ great grandchildren. She is also survived by siblings Dale & Jon Teske of St. George, SC: Laura Ann Wright of Cordesville/Moncks Corner, SC and several nieces and nephews.
Snookie will be remembered for her strong integrity, giving heart, perseverance and fiery attitude!
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, October 25, 2025 at 1pm at Cordesville First Baptist Church, 1913 Hwy 402, Moncks Corner, SC 29461.
