Johnny Adkins Obituary

Johnny Adkins, age 72, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, went home to be with the Lord on October 4th, 2025. Born on January 22, 1953, Johnny lived a life centered on faith, family, and service to others. He married the love of his life, Patricia Adkins, on October 7, 1972, and together they shared 52 years 362 days of love, laughter, and faith-filled partnership. He leaves behind his wife, daughter Stacy Williams (Lloyd Williams) and son Johnny Adkins (Sahar Adkins). Grandchildren Ethan Adkins, Bryce Adkins, and Labe Griffith II. He is also survived by his sister, Sarah Elkins (Gary Elkins), nieces Jennifer Elkins, Joy Roman, nephew BJ Roman, and a host of extended family and friends who will miss him deeply. Johnny worked for American Electric Power from August 1979 until his retirement in May 2015, where he was respected for his dedication, reliability, and kindness. Beyond his professional life, Johnny was a pastor whose heart for ministry touched countless lives. He believed in leading by example offering encouragement, prayer, and compassion to anyone in need. Whether through a sermon, a quiet visit, or a helping hand, he shared the love of Christ in both word and deed. In his free time, Johnny loved being with his family cheering on his grandchildren at school and sporting events, working in the yard, tackling projects around the house, and enjoying simple moments together laughing and joking around. His humor, steady faith, and gentle presence will be forever cherished by those blessed to know him. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations can be made to Manes Funeral Home in Newport, Tennessee (423-623-6952). A private service will be held locally in South Carolina, followed by a graveside service in Newport, Tennessee, where Johnny will be laid to rest near family. "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith." - 2 Timothy 4:7 (KJV)
