Joanne Banuelos Obituary

On July 3, 2025 Mrs. Joanne Banuelos died at the age of 93 in Folsom CA. She was born December 16, 1931 in St. Paul MN. Married 70 years to Rudy Banuelos from August 25, 1951 until his passing on November 1, 2021.

She started working as an usherette at the King City Real Joy Theater in 1948, then as a telephone operator and teller at Wells Fargo Bank. After retirement she began writing for the King City Rustler with her column "Joanne's Got It." She received a City of King Proclamation for her 14 years of keeping the community informed of all things King City.

Joanne was well known for her artwork and often referred to as the original "Martha Stewart," but to family she was always "Gramma J."

She is survived by daughter, Leslie Gelles; sons, Ray, his wife Cheryl and Robert and his wife, Cathy; grandkids, Christopher, Eric and Taylor Banuelos, John and Allison Gelles; great grandkids; Lillian, William, Kinsley, Lia and Maven.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Cork & Plough, 200 Broadway, King City, CA on Friday, July 25, 2025 at 1 pm.
