CHARLESTON, SC - The Management and Staff of THE SERENITY MORTUARY - SUMMERVILLE CHAPEL, alongside the Jennings Family announce the transition of Bishop Jessie James Jennings, Sr., 92 of Charleston, SC., who entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at his residence. Bishop Jennings was a beloved leader and devoted servant of God, Bishop Jennings was the widower of Minister Mary Jennings and the proud father of 13 beautiful children, as well as a cherished grandfather and great-grandfather to many. He faithfully served as Pastor and Overseer of the Nazareth Holiness Church of Deliverance Inc., which encompasses:
• Nazareth Holiness Church of Deliverance #1 – Adams Run, SC
• Nazareth Holiness Church of Deliverance #2 – Lincolnville, SC
• Nazareth Holiness Church of Deliverance #3 – Queens, NY
In addition to his dedication to ministry, Bishop Jennings was a retiree of the South Carolina Army National Guard and the U.S. Naval Shipyard.

In Loving Memory of Bishop Jessie Jennings
It is with deep sorrow and sincere gratitude that I extend my heartfelt condolences to the family and church family of Bishop Jessie Jennings. Bishop Jennings was more than a leader—he was a true father figure to me. Through his anointed teaching, unwavering faith, and godly example, he helped shape my spiritual walk and guided me toward becoming the man of God I am called to be.
His impact on my life is immeasurable. Because of his obedience to the call of God, I now stand firm in my own calling, daily witnessing the Gospel with the same spirit and integrity he modeled. Bishop’s legacy lives on in every life he touched, and I carry his spirit with me in every step of ministry.
To the Jennings family and the church family, I am eternally grateful. Thank you for sharing Bishop with us. His labor was not in vain, and his memory will continue to inspire generations to come.

What a beautiful and articulate Bro.,I first meet Bro.Jennings at Smith Temple in fay nc,he met his future wife my cousin Annie Ruth,family call name),we had very informative conversations over the many yrs,his spirit will always be with the Davis family, and much love for the Jennings family, he has left a path for others to follow, my Bro,glad to have shared life's moments with him,peace
