James Scott Obituary

James Benjamin Scott was born on January 27, 1929, in Valdosta Georgia to the parents of Nunnalley Scott and Lila Williams. Once out of high school he became a US Army man. He enjoyed playing his trumpet in the band and was recognized as having a military occupational specialty (Bandsman Trumpet). He received an Honorable Discharge in 1949. James continued to pursue life becoming a husband and family man. He worked for the New York Transit system for many years until he retired. Rest, relaxation and enjoyment were his goal. Over the years he was affectionally know as Scotty, Bubba, Granddad, Great-Grandad, Pop, Dad, Daddy, and Daddy'O. During his life he loved blowing his trumpet, bowling, entertaining at home, listening to a variety of different music, and recording tapes of the music he loved. Seeing his collection always left you listening to the music and singing and/or dancing to the music you hear. God called James home on July 11, 2025. This is a deep and personal loss to his family, relatives, and friends but we understand that God our Father knows best. James leaves to cherish his memory: Four daughters, three sons, twelve grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren, one nephew and a host of other family members and friends. The memorial service for James B. Scott will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Simplicity Funeral Home, 281 Treeland Dr. Suite C, Ladson, SC 29456.
