James Harrell Obituary

James Skinner Harrell, Jr., 85, of Summerville, passed away on Thursday, August 10, 2023.

Funeral services were held on August 14, 2023. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to St. Paul's Anglican Church.

Jimmy was born in Sumter, South Carolina on July 17, 1938. He was the son of James Skinner Harrell and Alice Walker Harrell. Jimmy graduated from Summerville High School and attended Newberry College. He loved golfing, traveling and spending time on Lake Moultrie, but most of all his family and friends. He was a constant presence at all the activities of his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his fiancée, Rose Myers Cummings; his daughter, Leisa Alford Harrell; his son, James Skinner Harrell, III (Laurie); his grandchildren, Lindsay McDaniel Decker (Kent), Hayley Harrell Nixon (Ben), Jamie Harrell Rowell (Liz), James Skinner Harrell, IV (Emma); his great grandchildren, Brody James Decker and Emerson Rowell; his sister, Mary Leila Harrell Stewart; his nephews, Connor Stewart, Hoke Stewart, Ricky Metts and his niece, Misty Lamb (Ian). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Millicent Tanner Alford; his daughter, Kimberly Ann Harrell McDaniel and his nephew, Robert Gregory Metts.
