Guy Wesson Obituary

Guy Wesson Obituary September 23, 2025

Guy Wesson, beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather was called to his eternal home on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, age 103 years. Guy was born on February 2, 1922 in Saginaw, MI to the late William A. and Hazel M. (Bolester) Wesson. He married Esther Spindler on May 7, 1955 at Zion Lutheran Church in Freeland. Esther predeceased him on January 1, 2011. Guy was a member of St. Lorenz Lutheran Church in Frankenmuth, where he served on various committees, and was a member of the Lutheran Laymen’s League. He received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan College of Mining and Technology (now Michigan Technological University) and worked at Saginaw Steering Gear Division of General Motors for 30 years, retiring as a Staff Engineer in 1981. In retirement Guy and Esther traveled to all 50 states, most of Canada, central Europe, and several Caribbean islands. They had a winter home in Bradenton, FL, where they spent several months of the year for over 20 years. He loved bowling, golf, cross-country skiing, fishing, playing cards, and working with stained glass. But most of all he loved gatherings with his family.

He is survived by his son Mark (Beth) Wesson of Midland, and daughter Barb (Bill) Kelley, also of Midland. Also, grandchildren Jason (Alyssa) Kelley, Appleton, WI, Ryan (Stacy) Griffus, Mt Pleasant, and Erin (Mike) Miller, Grand Blanc, 13 great-grandchildren, beloved cousins Bill and Ginny Beck, Grand Blanc, and many other cousins, nieces, and nephews. Guy was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Wesson, and sisters Mary Miller, and Rose Marie Strait.

Special thanks to the nurses of Optimal Care Hospice, and the staff and residents of Primrose Assisted Living in Midland for their care and kindness.

Funeral services will take place at 11:00 on Thursday, September 25 at St Lorenz Lutheran Church, 1030 W. Tuscola St, Frankenmuth, MI. Rev Joel Kaiser and Rev Dale Ahlschwede will officiate, with burial in St Lorenz Cemetery. Guy’s family will receive visitors at the church from 10:00 until the time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St Lorenz Lutheran Church.

So sorry to hear of Guy's passing but what a long wonderful life he led! I have many fond memories of our time in the neighborhood with both your mom and dad. I'm out of town and won't be able to attend the funeral but you will all be in our thoughts tomorrow.
