Elsie Bass Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Elsie Phillips Bass, who left this world on September 22, 2025, at the age of 80. Born on January 2, 1945, to the late Mr. and Mrs. James Bennett Phillips. Elsie lived a life filled with love, dedication, and a passion for caring for others.

Elsie was a devoted wife to her husband, Jack Bass, with whom she shared nearly 59 years of marriage. Elsie was a proud mother to three children. She also reveled in her role as a grandmother, finding great joy in the laughter and love of her grandchildren. Family gatherings were her happiest moments, where she brought everyone together with warmth, love, and her renowned cooking.

She later graduated from Georgia Southwestern State University with a degree in nursing, a profession she dedicated herself to wholeheartedly. For 25 years, she served the community at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Americus Georgia gaining a certification as a medical-surgical nurse. Her compassion and dedication to her patients were evident in every aspect of her work, and she made a lasting impact on the lives of many.

In her passing, Elsie is preceded by her beloved granddaughter , Lydia Caroline Bass. She leaves behind her husband, Jack; her children Jack Bass Jr. Of Americus , Georgia, Joe Bass(Sheri) of Cobb, Georgia, and Jan Williams(Scott) of Augusta, Georgia . Elsie was a wonderful person in my life. She was fun to be around, and I still can remember her giggle. We were cousins and saw each other often. My thoughts and prayers are with her family. We will miss her.

My heart is so sad in the loss of Elsie. She is my cousin and we grew up spending many hours playing together. Her grandmother Cassie was my aunt, and we lived very near each other so played there so many hours. We were in each others weddings, and though we didn´t see each other often after I moved away, we always could just fall back into being close. My condolences to the family. I will miss her very much.
