Elaine Hood Obituary

Elaine Hood, 75, traded this world for the next on February 3, 2026-no doubt already telling everyone there exactly how things ought to be done. Born on November 20, 1950, Elaine grew up in Rock Hill, SC, and spent her adult years in the Charleston/Summerville, SC area. With a big heart and a gift for making people feel they belonged, she touched everyone she met. She was predeceased by the love of her life, Jober (Leonard) Hood; her mother, Mary Ellen Walker; her father, Raymond Walker; and her sister, Christine Howell-who we're sure were waiting for her at the gates with open arms. Elaine's greatest joy-and proudest accomplishment-was her boys. She leaves behind her two sons, whom she loved more than life itself: Michael Ray and William Scott Hood. She adored her grandchildren-Amber, William (Scottie), Karah, Bellew, and Epiphany-and lit up whenever she spoke of them. She also leaves great-grandchildren, her sisters, Jackie Henderson, Barbara Henderson, and Theresa Sanders, as well as many nieces and nephews, all blessed by her love, hugs, and occasional stubborn advice. Known for her mischievous streak and sharp sense of humor, Elaine never went anywhere without leaving people doing a double-take. Her devoted "partner in crime," Tina Blankenship, remains here for now, but those who knew them can easily imagine their future reunion-full of laughter, stories, and just a little trouble. Elaine will be remembered for her fierce love, her passion for birds and flowers, and the way she made every gathering feel like home. Though we're heartbroken to say goodbye, we take comfort in knowing she's at peace, surrounded by loved ones, likely organizing things her way and watching over us all. In lieu of tears, Elaine would probably prefer a good story, a warm hug, and a shared laugh in her honor.
