Judy Woodward Obituary

Judy Ann (Stidam) Woodward, 81, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Mother’s Day, May 11, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with dementia. Judy was born on January 2, 1944, in Scottsburg, Indiana, to Ernest and Ethel (Hounshell) Stidam. She grew up in Frankton, Indiana, where she attended Frankton High School. In 1958, Judy met Larry D. Ramey Sr. The couple moved to Elwood, Indiana, where they welcomed two sons: Larry D. Ramey Jr. and Steven J. Ramey. Judy was a devoted mother who poured her heart into raising her boys. She was deeply involved in their education, sports, and activities, creating a warm and loving home full of laughter and neighborhood children. Judy married Curtis Lynn Woodward on August 18. 1967, and together they made their home in Noblesville, Indiana. Curtis began his career with Firestone Industrial Products in Noblesville, while Judy worked for Public Service Indiana. Family life in Noblesville was full of adventure and community. Judy cherished their home near the White River and Potter’s Bridge, where her sons spent countless days exploring. She especially loved hosting family gatherings, with Thanksgiving and Christmas being her favorite times of year. After both sons graduated from Noblesville High School, Judy and Curtis relocated to Corbin, Kentucky, when Curtis accepted a management position with Firestone. Together they built a new home and enjoyed many happy years filled with travel, gardening, and the joy of one another’s company. In later years, Judy suffered a stroke that left her partially paralyzed. Curtis lovingly cared for her until his own health began to decline. The couple eventually returned to Indianapolis, where they resided at Westminster Village North, until their passing.

Judy is survived by her eldest son, Larry D. Ramey Jr. of Simi Valley, California; daughter in-law, Amy Hart-Ramey of Noblesville, Indiana, sister Joann Whetsel of Frankton, and her grandsons, Larry D. Ramey III, Dylan Robert Ramey, Austin P. Ramey and Jackson T. Ramey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Curtis and her youngest son, Steven J. Ramey. Judy will be laid to rest beside her husband of more than 50 years, Curtis Lynn Woodward (U.S. Navy Seabee, 1958–1962), at the Marion National Cemetery, 1700 E. 38th Street, Marion, Indiana, on Monday, November 3, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. Judy will be remembered for her devotion to family, her warmth and generosity, and the many cherished memories she created for those who loved her.
