Cheryl Elwood Obituary
Cheryl Elaine Elwood (77) of Forest, Ohio passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 27th, 2025. Cheryl was born on May 1, 1948 in Bucyrus, Ohio to Charles and Clarice Alvetta (Kight) Hannibal. She graduated from Upper Sandusky High School in 1966. She married Chuck Elwood on Valentine's Day of 1998. Cheryl is survived by her mother, son, Doug (Dana) Rickenbacher, and daughters, Robin McKinniss, Ashley (Steven Manns) Elwood, and Shelby (Tim Lee) Elwood. She loved her 10 grandchildren dearly; Jolene' Tai (Austin) McBee, James (Rebekah Spearman) Rickenbacher, Lyndsie Leonard, Riley (Dylan) Hale, Anthany (Brook Phillips) Leonard, Kolby (Kirsten Green) Wilcox, Shelby Rickenbacher, Reagan McKinniss, Reese McKinniss, and Paxton Shively. She also had 6 great grandchildren and 1 on the way. Also surviving are her nephew, Stanton Swihart, and her great nieces, Allison and Madelyn Predmore. She is preceded in death by her father, sister and brother-in-law, Deanna and Buzz Swihart, niece, Jennifer Predmore, and in-laws, Charles and Edith Elwood. Cheryl was known by many for her positivity, bubbly personality, and her warm hugs. She proudly devoted 36 years to Forest Elementary and Riverdale Local Schools as a teacher's aide where she made a difference in many children's lives. Chuck and Cheryl owned Elwood's Pine Ridge Tree Service for 27 years, where they worked long hours to cut and trim trees for the village of Forest and many individuals in the tri-county area. They cut and delivered firewood to many over the years as well. Cheryl was a simple woman who enjoyed planting flowers, soaking up the sun, and enjoying nature at the cabin. She loved the life her and Chuck built together and was always excited to have a visitor. She enjoyed spending time with her family, watching her grandkids in their many activities, and sending greeting cards to friends and family just to let them know she was thinking of them. She was known by many past students for clipping and laminating newspaper articles that featured their academic, athletic, and personal achievements. Funeral services will be held on Thurs. July 31, 2025 at 12:00PM in the Clark Shields Funeral Home with Pastor Jason Manns officiating. Burial will be in Patterson Cemetery. Visitation is 10:AM-12:00PM before time of services at the funeral home. Cheryl held a special place in her heart for the staff at The Armes Family Cancer Care Center. She created strong bonds with many of them through her and Chuck's cancer journeys.
