Cassandra Jennings Obituary

Obituary for Cassandra Louise Norris Jennings
Cassandra Louise Norris Jennings, a devoted mother, esteemed educator, and cherished mentor, passed away on August 25, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, inspiration, and unwavering commitment to the transformative power of education. Born and raised in Ridgeville, South Carolina, Cassandra dedicated over thirty years of her life to shaping the minds and futures of countless students and colleagues. Cassandra's academic journey began at Claflin University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. Her thirst for knowledge led her to pursue multiple master's degrees from South Carolina State University and Charleston Southern University, including a Master of Science in Education and a Master of Arts in Educational Administration and Supervision. These achievements reflected her steadfast dedication to learning and growth, values she instilled in her students and fellow educators. Cassandra was a proud member Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. Cassandra's influence extended far beyond the classroom. She began her career as a middle and high school science teacher in the Berkeley County School District, where her passion for science and education shone brightly. Her ability to inspire and mentor fellow teachers earned her the prestigious title of Teacher of the Year, a testament to her dedication to fostering a love for learning and her desire to see her students succeed. Cassandra's leadership journey took her into various administrative roles, including assistant principal and principal at several schools, including Stratford High School, Westview Middle School, Cane Bay High School, and Ridgeland High School. Her tenure was marked by a commitment to academic excellence and the holistic development of her students. Notably, she oversaw the construction and opening of the state-of-the-art Cane Bay High School, a project that received strong endorsement from the district's superintendent. After her retirement, Cassandra continued to impact education as a Principal Specialist at Brentwood Middle School and an Academic Learning Specialist at Sedgefield Middle School, both in South Carolina. Her belief in the transformative power of education was encapsulated in her favorite quote by Anthony J. D'Angelo: "Develop a passion for learning. If you do, you will never cease to grow." This philosophy guided her throughout her career and inspired those around her to embrace lifelong learning. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Cassandra was a beloved mother to her daughter, Carmen Amie Jennings, and son, Lyndon Jennings. She is also survived by her siblings, Marvis Y. Nichols (Alexander) and Jose LaCosky Norris (Vilma); Aunt: Lillian Smith; Niece: Candace Y. Nichols; Nephews: Trey Nichols, Jason Norris, Jermaine Norris and Stephen Norris; as well as her loving cousins, Eric Bing and
Charles Delbert Bing. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gertie Lou Norris and James Norris Jr. Cassandra's warmth, kindness, and unwavering support will be deeply missed by her
family, friends, and the countless lives she touched throughout her career. Cassandra Louise Norris Jennings will forever be remembered for her love for her children, dedication to education, her love for her students, and her unwavering belief in the power of learning. May her spirit continue to inspire future generations, and may her memory be a blessing to all who knew her.
