Billy Gage Obituary

Billy Jack Gage, Sr., 93, of Moncks Corner, SC passed away peacefully on March 4,2022 surrounded by family.

Billy was born June 27, 1928, in Decatur, Texas. He moved with his parents to SC when he was

a young boy. Along with having a gregarious personality and a deep love for animals, he excelled at many hobbies. He was a talented musician and member of the Shaggers Hall of Fame. He was a golden glove champion boxer and award-winning yo-yo master. In addition, he was an avid golfer. He loved listening to beach music and watching college football, boxing, and golf in his later years.

He proudly served our country at the end of WW2 in the Merchant Marines and again in the

Navy during the Korean War. During the Vietnam War, he worked as a civil servant in Vietnam installing satellite systems.

He is survived by five children: Joanne Westbrook and Lisa Patrick (Randall) of Summerville,

Susan Gage of Hanahan, Pamela Gage Smith of Fort Mill, and Billy J. Gage, Jr (Samantha) of Brevard, NC; by four siblings: Ronnie Gage (Stephanie), Robert Gage (Leisa), Karen Gage McGraw (Pat) and Kathy Gage Switzer (Robert) of Texas; and a very special caregiver whom he adored, Susanne Jackson.

He leaves behind a legacy of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Billy was predeceased by his mother, Maurine Huggins, and stepfather, Thomas Huggins, of

Moncks Corner; father, Buddy Gage of Texas; and son, Thomas Gage of Mississippi.

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the wonderful and caring nurses

on the 3rd floor of Summerville Medical Center.

There will be a Celebration of Life on March 20, 2022 at Knightsville United Methodist Church at 2pm. A meal and shag dancing will follow.

Donations may be made to Dorchester Paws or Knightsville United Methodist Church in Billy's

honor.
