In 1988, Allen settled in Connecticut and began his career in banking, working as vice president and trust manager at JP Morgan Chase & Co. He continued his career at Bank of America and Webster Bank in similar positions. As retirement neared, Allen worked at People's United Bank as vice president, compliance officer. Allen loved traveling (visiting 48 countries), piloting small planes, skiing, reading, U.S. History and exercising. When he and Suzanne retired, they relocated to the Del Webb community in Summerville, South Carolina. Happiness was leaving behind high taxes and freezing cold weather.
