Allan Chester Obituary
Allan Milo Chester, passed away July 15, 2025 at MUSC Hospital in Charleston, South Carolina at the age of 77. Born March 13, 1948 to Walter and Iola Chester in Tiffin Ohio. Graduated High school at Columbian High School class of 1966 in Tiffin Ohio. Attended Tri State College in Indiana to be a Draftsman, was drafted into the Navy during Vietnam in 1969, discharged in 1973. Graduated Prince Georges College in Maryland with his nursing degree. Later becoming a Registered Nurse. He worked as an RN for 29 years at Community Med Center in Marion Ohio, later to retire as a Hospice Nurse for 7 years.
He married Janice Irene Clay on June 7, 1969, they had a wonderful 56 years together. Life was full of amazing adventures together. In his early years he was an avid bike cyclist, loved camping and actually camped in 48 states enjoying all the beauty God provides. Avid Motorcycle rider and of course a Harley owner, he enjoyed gardening, fishing, woodworking, flying kites, and restoring his own sailboat sailing the open waters of Alum Creek in Ohio. Jan always called him, her Mr.Fix it! Enjoyed his regular bible study group with the Old Corner Church in Marion Ohio. Then at the Summerville Church of Christ in Summerville SC.
Allan is proceeded by his parents Walter and Iola Chester and is survived by his wife Janice Irene Chester their boys Gregory Allan Chester (Kimberly Rose Chester) of Medford Minnesota, Corey James Chester (Diana Kay Chester) of Charleston, South Carolina. Grandchildren: Katelyn Rose Wagaman (Johnathan Steven Wagaman) of Pine Island, Minnesota, William Allan Forest Chester of River Falls, Wisconsin. Mark Aaron Harris (Maria Harris) Mark Harris (Papi) Mia Harris of Key Largo, Florida. Mason Austin Nelson of Blacksburg, Virginia, Chancellor Maston Nelson of Charleston, South Carolina, Bryce Christopher Nelson of Belmont, North Carolina.
The Chester Family will have a viewing hour at 10AM on Monday July 21, 2025, and immediately a church service at 11AM. Luncheon to follow immediately after the service 12:00-1:30, all three located at Summerville Church of Christ located at 413 Old Trolley Rd Summerville, SC 29485. Graveside Military service with flag presentation will be at 2PM at Live Oak Memorial Gardens 3093 Ashley River Rd, Charleston SC 29414.
