William "Will" Xavier Hand, 14, of
Greenville, South Carolina, passed away unexpectedly on June 8, 2025, due to an overwhelming bacterial infection. His loss leaves a void that can never be filled, but his joyful spirit, quick smile, and magnetic energy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, even briefly.
Will was a highlight of many people's day-equal parts athlete, comedian, music lover, and loyal friend. He played basketball with passion for the Pasadena Stars and spent years on the baseball diamond, proudly winning a league championship at Fluor Field to cap his Little League career. His teammates, coaches, and friends knew him as the life of party-always ready with a story, usually a little embellished for effect, and always delivered with a grin.
He had just completed 8th grade at Hughes Academy, after attending Augusta Circle Elementary, St. Mary's Catholic School, and St. Joseph's Catholic School. Will was recognized as an "All A's" student, a testament to his intelligence, curiosity, and occasional bursts of focus between jokes.
Beyond the classroom and court, Will was known for his infectious smile, playful banter amongst friends, and unmatched gift for turning everyday moments into unforgettable memories. Whether it was walking to CVS or Moe's with his friends, or re-enacting WWE wrestling, he brought joy everywhere he went.
Will is survived by his loving parents, William and Megan Hand; his sisters, Emi Reese (15) and Logan (12); and his brother, Rediger (8). He is also cherished by his grandparents, Bill and Kimberly Hand, Jim and Adair Boatman, and his aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A celebration of Will's life will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2310 Augusta St,
Greenville, SC, at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, June 13, 2025.
