William Cureton Obituary

William Lee Cureton, beloved son of the late Johnny Cureton Sr. and Mary Payton Cureton, peacefully departed this life on September 17, 2025. A proud graduate of the Palmetto High School Class of 1975, William furthered his education at Greenville Technical College. He had a passion for life and was known for his love of people, dancing, cooking, singing, and especially for his dedication to helping the elderly. William was a faithful member of New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church, where he served joyfully as a singer in the New prospect Inspirational Choir. He retired from Gerber Mill after many years of hard work and dedication. He was preceded in death by his parents, stepmother Ella Cureton; his brothers Johnny Cureton Jr., Devern Cureton, and Ronnie Cureton; sons Mark Coker and Jadrain Cureton. Grandson Montrell Coker. William leaves to cherish his memory: his devoted wife of 48 years, Mary Ann Coker Cureton; brother Robert (Etta) Cureton of Williamston S.C.; sons Johnny Coker of Honea Path S.C. and Tyrone Coker of the home; daughter Christina Cureton of Pelzer S.C. Eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and dear friends.
