William Brockman Obituary

William Gary Brockman II Duncan, SC William Gary Brockman II, 77, passed away Monday July 7, 2025. Born in Woodruff, He was the son of the late Thomas Arnold Brockman and Rachel Henson Brockman and the devoted husband of Sherry Edmund Brockman, for 56 years. Gary was a 1965 graduate of James F. Byrnes High School, a 1966 graduate of Spartanburg Technical College, obtaining a welding degree, a 1978 Limestone University graduate with a BS in Business and a proud auditor of Clemson University CU History 101. Mr. Brockman was a veteran of the United States Army, and was a Sergeant 1st class, and was a lifetime member at Sharon Methodist Church in Greer. He was owner and operator of Brockman Farms since 1976 and retired from the US Postal Service after 25 years of service. He was a volunteer for Mobile Meals and Feed the Future Weekend Backpack Program. During his farming career, he volunteered with the Spartanburg Soil and Water Conservation and with the ASC Office. Survivors include three daughters Jennifer Taylor and husband Wesley, Christy Thompson and husband Jamie, and Carrie Potter and husband Jon; and was known as Poppy to his six grandchildren Sarah Taylor, Emily Taylor, Ava Thompson, Neely Thompson, Jillian Potter, and Thomas Potter. He was predeceased by three brothers, James Brockman, Michael Brockman, and Richard Brockman; and two sisters, Elizabeth Baughcome, Marsha Brockman. Services will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday July 10, 2025, at Sharon Methodist Church officiated by Rev. Scott Allen. The family will receive friends from 12pm-1pm prior to the service.
