Wendy Simmons Obituary

Wendy Frantz Simmons, beloved wife of Alender "Al" Simmons, Jr., and dedicated mother of four, passed away on May 8, 2025, at the age of 61. Born on May 26, 1963, in Baltimore, Maryland, Wendy was a daughter of the late Robert Fehr Frantz and Dorothy Dodd Frantz of Greenville, SC. Wendy graduated from Christ Church Episcopal School in 1981. She was an Honor Roll student, member of the French Club, co-captain of the JV Cheerleading Team, and member of Young Life. A proud alumna of Auburn University, Wendy graduated in 1985 with a bachelor's degree, and her ties to the university remained strong. She cherished her time as a member and treasurer of the Chi Omega Sorority, and she fondly recalled her role as the sweetheart of the Beta Theta Pi Fraternity. Her spirit of service was palpable through her active participation in various community organizations, such as the Greenville Junior League and the Greater Greenville Youth Tennis Association, where she helped foster a love for the game in countless young athletes. Wendy was also a cherished volunteer for Meals on Wheels, touching the lives of many in her community. Wendy's talents extended beyond the tennis court as she embraced hobbies like traveling, scrapbooking, and photography. With a strong faith guiding her and a heart full of tenacity, she poured her energy into creating lasting memories with her loved ones. Above all, Wendy was an incredible mom who loved her family, her friends, and her dogs. In addition to her loving husband, Wendy is survived by her children, Alen Simmons of Greer, SC, Kelly Simmons of Greer, SC, Robert Simmons of New York, NY, and Bradley Simmons (Mitchi) of Columbia, SC; brothers, Scott Frantz (Betsy) of Arlington, VA, and Chris Frantz (Randy) of Laurens, SC; a sister, Diane Frantz Goodman (Jeff, deceased) of Greer, SC; mother-in-law, Sally M.
