Vicky McCauley Obituary

Vicky Jean McCauley

Vicky was born December 30th 1957 in Santa Ana Orange County California to parents Larry and Dorothy (Bushong) Hayes. She was the second child of three who blessed this family.

She began her journey into heaven in the early morning hours of October 13th 2025 while at UC health in Greeley Colorado. Diagnosed, April 10th, 2024, Vicky battled stage 3 breast cancer bravely sitting through chemotherapy treatments weekly but as it had spread to many other organs as well as her bones thus making her fight with cancer much harder. In her weakened state she still was ready to continue her fight to be here for her grandchildren and her daughter. She wanted to watch her grandson grow up and get to know her granddaughter. Unfortunately, Sunday the 12th she was brought into the ER where it was found she was very sick with sepsis and liver failure Flight for life took her to Greeley. Where she kept fighting until Monday. In the end she still waited till her family made it home safely from the hospital before passing.

Vicky graduated high school in Orange County California. Later she got a job working at a factory that made pacemakers and other medical equipment. Later she moved to Yuma Colorado and started working at the old feed store on Hwy. 34. She often spoke of the surprises in the grain bags of baby cobras popping out to say hello.

In Vicky's free time she enjoyed spending time with her daughter and her grandson. She often babysat while her daughter worked. Most recently she got to spend time with her granddaughter, which was a true thrill for Vicky after years of separation. Vicky loved reading books, gardening, and spending time with Binks the family cat. She loved horses, lighthouses, dolphins, cardinals, and stargazer lilies, listening to old rock'n'roll like Fleetwood Mac eagles and Journey which she shared with her grandson. She loved horseback riding and training horses, which always brought her peace and joy while living on the McCaulay family farm.

She married Gail McCauley and had a daughter Mariah Tyler McCauley born on a very stormy April 10th, 1986. Her and Mariah had a true bond from the start, always taking care of each other. She was willing to do anything and everything for her daughter. After the marriage ended in 2003, Vicky and her daughter moved to Texas then returned years later to Yuma. She started working in healthcare as a CNA and later in Homehealth.

Vicky had education and in paralegal and real estate but health care drew her back. She worked at Hillcrest and the Towers in Wray Colorado as a CNA, laundry, housekeeping and then transportation where she got to take and spend a lot more time with the elders which she loved. Her last job was Homehealth which she loved.

Vicky is preceded in death by her parents Larry and Dorothy (Bushong) Hayes, big sister Beverly (Dallas) Pelcher, brother John, ex mother and father in laws who she never stopped loving, Hugh and Marjorie (Allen) McCauley.

Those left to love and miss her, her best friend and daughter Mariah Tyler McCauley (Chester), beautiful granddaughter Myka Mylynn McDonald, apple of her eye, lil bubba her two year old grandson Hugh Ian Theodore McCauley, nephews Eric and Josh Pelcher, along with a host of other relatives, friends and in-laws whom she loved dearly.

Remember her strength and compassion and unwavering love. Through constant trials she always came out swinging, especially for her family. Always putting her daughter and grandchildren before herself.
