With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Thomas Eugene Haight (Tom), beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, who departed this life on October 9, 2025, in Simpsonville, South Carolina. He was born on March 14, 1958, in Erie, Pennsylvania to the late Dallas Haight and Phyllis Nantes Haight.
Tom is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Debbie Haight; two sons, Dallas Haight of St. Augustine, FL, Evan Haight (Christina) of Charleston, SC; cherished granddaughter, Cecilia Haight; and mother-in-law, Atsuko Wagner of Erie, PA. Tom's legacy will also live on through brothers David (Elisabeth) of Oswego, NY, Geoff (Toni) of Surf City, NC, Daniel, Patrick, Sean, Robert (Teresa), sister Casey Lockwood (Ron), all of Erie, PA; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his best and beloved dog, Gunner. Together, they all shared moments filled with both laughter and love.
Tom was a 1976 graduate of Iroquois High School where he was a member of the wrestling and baseball teams. He enlisted in the United States Marines and was honorably discharged. Upon discharge, Tom transitioned to industrial sales. His family relocated to Simpsonville, SC, in 1998 where he began youth sports officiating, NCAA and professional baseball umpiring, in addition to many years as a forklift operator with UPS Freight, now known as T-Force.
Tom enjoyed spending precious moments with his granddaughter as 'Poppa T' and golfing with his sons, Dallas and Evan, when they got together. He was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates. He also loved socializing with many dear friends at the local happy hour. He was a tremendous husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, who will be missed dearly by all who knew him.
On Sunday, November 16th, 2025, Tom's family will gather at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home for a Visitation at 12:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 2:00 PM.
In this time of grief, we invite all who knew and loved Tom to join together as we celebrate his remarkable journey. May his spirit live on in the hearts and lives of all he touched.
