Sue Dempsey Obituary

Marilyn Sue Wendt Dempsey, 76, wife of 50 years to the late Dennis Bernard Dempsey, Sr., passed away November 27, 2025.

A native of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, she was a daughter of the late Charles Edward Wendt, Sr. and Helen Esther Belt Wendt. In her youth she spent many years in Guadalajara, Mexico, and eventually graduated high school in Mexico. She later attended Winthrop University and graduated with a Degree in Education. She enjoyed a 40-year career teaching at Greenville Middle School as a National Board Science Teacher. Sue was a breast cancer survivor and was continually active in the Breast Cancer Awareness community, as well as an active member of St. Matthew United Methodist Church. Sue enjoyed summers with the Rausch family in Pennsylvania.

Surviving are two children, Dennis "Denny" Dempsey, Jr. of Taylors, and Cynthia "Cindy" Dempsey of Greenville; one sister, Mary Sheldon (Chris); and two grandchildren, Parker Dempsey and McKellar Dempsey.

She was predeceased by two brothers, Eddie Wendt and Terry Wendt, and one sister, Jean deValle.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 5, 2025, at St. Matthew United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Kurt McPherson. Burial will be private.
