Steve Fischer Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Steve Gottfried Fischer, a beloved husband, dedicated veteran, and cherished friend, who left this world on October 26, 2025, at the age of 89. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, on September 29, 1936, he was the son of the late Steve and Margaret Kutz Fischer. Steve proudly served his country as a member of the US Navy. His devotion to service reflected his character - resilient, caring, and committed. After his military service, he went on to earn an Associate's Degree and enjoyed a successful career as a Data Base Administrator lending his expertise to notable companies such as Goodyear and Fiberweb. Not only defined by his professional achievements; Steve was a passionate world traveler who explored various cultures and landscapes, enriching the lives of all who crossed his path. A man of diverse interests, he also enjoyed figure skating, roller blading, and biking, finding joy and freedom in movement and nature. His adventurous spirit was contagious, inspiring countless others to embrace the beauty of life and the great outdoors. Steve is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Helen Fischer, whose love and support were constant throughout his life. Together, they shared countless memories, laughter, and a deep bond that will endure beyond his passing. A celebration of Steve's extraordinary life will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. in the Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Southeast Chapel followed by a reception until noon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Steve's memory to the Greenville Humane Society, 305 Airport Rd., Greenville, SC 29607 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. In this moment of sorrow, we remember Steve not only for the loss we feel but for the immense love he brought into our lives. His laughter, kindness, and adventurous spirit will be deeply missed but forever cherished in our hearts.
