Sandra Shelton Obituary

Sandra Simpson Shelton (78) passed away peacefully at home in Easley, South Carolina on July 16, 2025. Born in Spartanburg County, she was the daughter of the late Grady Lee and Joella Grace Richards Simpson. She was the widow of Jerry Dean Shelton whom she adored until her last breath. Mrs. Shelton was a homemaker. She had been a member of Forestville Baptist Church since her childhood. Mrs. Shelton is survived by a devoted son, James Dean Shelton, and his wife, Lori, who had a very special relationship with Mrs. Shelton. She is also survived by her siblings, Brenda Owen of Belton and Sammy Simpson of Surfside; grandchildren, Justin McCroskey (Amanda), Austin McCroskey, Kaylee Shelton-Hoover (Rashad), Ian Gourdin, Ashlyn Shelton, Jordan McCroskey, and Jacob Gourdin; a great-grandchild Atreus Dean Shelton-Hoover; and nieces and nephews. She has one daughter. In addition to her parents and her husband of 39 years, Mrs. Shelton was predeceased by her siblings, Barbara "Bobbie" LeBuhn and Doug Simpson (Yvonne). Mrs. Shelton had wit, a fiery temper, but above all a generous heart. "Nanny" loved her grandchildren dearly and was pleased to be surrounded by them in her last weeks. A funeral service was held on Monday, July 21, 2025, and she was laid to rest beside her husband in Robinson Memorial Gardens in Easley.
